{"id":1138,"date":"2026-09-30T15:51:47","date_gmt":"2026-09-30T15:51:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.kcfj570am.com\/?p=1138"},"modified":"2026-09-30T15:51:47","modified_gmt":"2026-09-30T15:51:47","slug":"toddler-found-with-loaded-gun-at-daycare-in-michigan-police","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.kcfj570am.com\/?p=1138","title":{"rendered":"Toddler found with loaded gun at daycare in Michigan: Police"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<figure><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/s3.amazonaws.com\/syndication.abcaudio.com\/files\/2026-09-30\/Getty_squadcar_093026.jpg\" alt><figcaption>(Getty Images stock photo)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>(NEW YORK) &#8212; A parent has been arrested after a toddler was found with a loaded gun inside a Michigan daycare facility, authorities said.<\/p>\n<p>A teacher noticed the gun Monday morning and took &#8220;immediate action,&#8221; Canton Police Chief Joseph Bialy told ABC Detroit affiliate WXYZ.<\/p>\n<p>Officers then responded to the incident in Canton, just outside of Detroit, and secured the weapon, according to Canton police.<\/p>\n<p>No injuries were reported.<\/p>\n<p>Charges against the parent were not immediately clear, but the Wayne County Prosecutor&#8217;s Office\u00a0told ABC News the parent is expected to be arraigned on Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The message here is that no matter how busy our lives are, we have a great responsibility if we\u2019re going to choose to own a firearm,&#8221; the chief told WXYZ.<\/p>\n<p>Guns are the No. 1 cause of death for children in the U.S., according to Everytown For Gun Safety.<\/p>\n<p>Copyright \u00a9 2026, ABC Audio.
