Nintendo has also shared that the release date for the movie has shifted slightly. The film is now set to release in theaters on April 30, 2027.<\/p>\n<p>Bo Bragason and Benjamin Evan Ainsworth star as Princess Zelda and the swordsman Link. Nintendo\u2019s Shigeru Miyamoto revealed their casting on his <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/Nintendo\/status\/1945431647530491955?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1945433161124688335%7Ctwgr%5Edde8ed98d746059c6205055072d6e7a8b24d795a%7Ctwcon%5Es2_&amp;ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fvariety.com%2F2025%2Ffilm%2Fglobal%2Flegend-of-zelda-movie-cast-bo-bragason-benjamin-evan-ainsworth-1236462236%2F\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">social media<\/a> back in July 2025.<\/p>\n<p>Wes Ball, who helmed <em>The Maze Runner<\/em> and <em>Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes<\/em>, directs the upcoming film.<\/p>\n<p>This movie is based on <em>The Legend of Zelda<\/em> action-adventure video games. The series&#8217; first game launched for the Family Computer system in Japan in 1986.<\/p>\n<p>Sony Pictures Entertainment will handle the film&#8217;s worldwide theatrical distribution. The movie is being co-financed by Nintendo and Sony Pictures Entertainment, with Nintendo noting in a press release that it is providing more than 50% of the financing.<\/p>\n<p>Copyright \u00a9 2026, ABC Audio.
